Faith Statement

This Blog believes that Jesus is the Lord and savior of the world. He came to earth to die for man's sin on the cross, and in order for us to be saved we must except Jesus as our Lord and savior over our lives. As it says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Without the death of Jesus on the cross no man could possibly be saved. Unfortunately too many people today believe that simply being a good person is enough to gain eternal life. This ideology clearly contradicts the Bible. Let's take a closer look.

Since the fall of man an altar system was established to atone for man's sinful nature. Basically a blood sacrifice had to be performed because man was not able to keep the commandments of the Lord. God gave Moses the ten commandments on two tablets of stone for man to abide by, but man, in his natural ways, could not keep the law. The death of Jesus allows man to live under grace instead of the law. Jesus being the perfect sacrifice that takes away the sins of the world. All we have to do is except Jesus as our savior and all of our sins are forgiven, yet too many people will tell you that a just God will not send anyone to hell. The first problem with that belief is in assuming that any person is good in the site of the Lord. We have to remember that we have to hold ourselves up to God's standard of good not ours. Let's put ourselves to the test.

The first thing we have to do is find out if we measure up to God's standard, and that standard is measured by the ten commandments. Have you kept all the commandments? Your first thought might be yeah, I'm not a thief or a murderer. Let's take a closer look at a few of the commandments. My first question would be if you have ever told a lie. If you are being completely honest with yourself the answer would be yes. I know society will say that a little white lie is OK, but according to God, a lie is a lie. What does that make you? A lire. Have you ever stolen anything ? This could be something as small as a paper clip or a pen.The answer is yes, and that makes you a thief. Have you ever committed adultery? Now, before you answer this question let's take a look at how Jesus defines adultery. "But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). I think we can safely say the answer is yes.

I have only asked three questions, and it is clear that we have all failed miserably. We have found that we are all lying, thieving adulterers. According to God's word " the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Based on this, the only option for a just God is to give us the punishment we deserve which is hell. Thankfully we have a very loving God who sent his son to take the punishment upon himself. He died so we wouldn't have to.
This clearly shows us that eternal life can never be earned. According to the Bible, it is a free gift given to us when we are born again. John 3:18 says "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already." Jesus is the only way. There is no amount of good you can do on your own to gain everlasting life; without Jesus, you are lost forever.

This is a message every person must hear. Too many people sit in church from week to week believing that all it takes is being a good person and showing up at church will save you. They never open the Bible to find the answers for themselves." Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippeans 2:12). We are called to share the word with the world, but the word of God clearly says to work out our own salvation. It is each person's choice whether to follow Jesus or not, no other person can make that choice for you. It also says to work it out with fear and trembling, for God's judgment comes quickly. Looking at our rapidly declining society, I would say judgment is here. My hope for this blog is to bring people back to the word of God, to study for themselves and not to rely on teachers. We all do need teachers, but we must be mindful of people teaching false doctrine. God's word warns us about false teachers in 2 Peter 2:1 "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that brought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." We must have a discerning spirit, and the only way to achieve this is to study the word of God for ourselves. That is the reason for this blog, to study God's word and learn to implement it into our lives.
